It was while working for the railroad that he came to love the Elberta & Frankfort area, and later in 1972, he would be blessed to call it home. Wayne was able to turn his passion into reality when he worked on the Ann Arbor railroad. He continued to grow a collection and build model railroad train sets as well as engage with model railroad clubs wherever he lived. He was an avid railroad fan starting with his first model train set in the basement of the family farm. During his school years he was active in Future Farmers of America and vocational Co-Op programs until he graduated in 1955. He attended a one-room schoolhouse until the 8th grade, and then attended Owosso High School. In his youth, he was always interested in trains and had thoughts about becoming a police officer. Wayne grew up on the family farm in Henderson, MI. Wayne was born in Owosso, MI on February 12, 1937, to Elbert and Ethel (Scribner) Knight. Knight of Frankfort passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at The Maples in Frankfort, MI with his wife Lana and staff by his side.
